The Sparrow Found A House (and a giveaway!)

Not too long ago I was given the opportunity to read "The Sparrow Found A House." It was written by Jason McIntire, a homeschool graduate. Needless to say, Homeschooling is front and center in the story. It also deals effectively with a modern day Christian family who are navigating some pretty stiff challenges.

Here’s the synopsis from the back of the book:

Fifteen-year-old Jessie Rivera is living every teenager’s nightmare. Her widowed mom has married a man who wears his heavy Christian values like his sergeant’s stripes – on both sleeves.

Glenn Sparrow is persistent, immovable, and not afraid to be firm. Worse than that, he’s loving, kind – even fun – and he has Chris, Moe, and Katie completely won over.
But Jessie is determined that she won’t be won over, or give up her “freedom” without a fight. She knows what she wants, and it isn’t what they’ve got.
Or is it?

I really became invested in the characters. I wanted them to succeed as a family. The book is intended for the young folks, but I think it is appropriate for all ages. Keep in mind that this the values expressed in this book are fairly conservative, but I think regardless of your thoughts on modesty and outside influences such as video games and television that any Christian homeschool family can relate.
I felt that at the book dealt so well with the bottom line...it's a heart issue, isn't it? I loved the lessons Mr. Sparrow imparted to his young family members. If I weren't such a "campaphob" (my own little made up word for those who fear camping) I would love to experience those lessons with my own son.

And now on to something special. This is straight from the publisher.

Elisha Press is running a “blitz giveaway” of some signed softcover books. Five copies of “The Sparrow Found A House,” autographed by author Jason McIntire, will be given away on Saturday night. You can enter with just your email address here:

I was given this book to read for my honest Review.
